X-Men Reboot: Game of Thrones Star Joins Marvel’s Cast

As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand, fans of the iconic X-Men franchise have a reason to rejoice. Marvel Studios is set to revitalize the X-Men series with a dynamic new reboot, further intertwining it with the expansive tapestry of the MCU. As anticipation builds, a notable announcement has added fuel to the fire: Peter Claffey, a familiar face to Game of Thrones fans, has been cast as Hank McCoy, also known as Beast.

The X-Men, originally created by the legendary Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, made their debut in The X-Men #1 back in 1963. This beloved team of mutants, including iconic figures like Professor Charles Xavier, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Angel, and Iceman, quickly evolved into a multi-billion-dollar franchise with widespread acclaim. Over the years, the X-Men have seen numerous adaptations, most notably through a live-action movie series that has spawned a multitude of spinoffs, sequels, and prequels.

In an exclusive report by Knight Edge Media, it’s been revealed that Peter Claffey, fresh from his success as Sir Duncan the Tall in HBO’s A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, will step into the furry blue shoes of Hank McCoy in the upcoming Marvel reboot. The Irish actor, whose performance in the Game of Thrones spinoff has been widely celebrated, seems perfectly suited to portray the intellectual and strategic marvel that is Beast. ScreenRant has reached out to Disney to confirm this exciting development.

Beast, or Dr. Henry Philip “Hank” McCoy, has undergone significant transformations since his inception, evolving from a human-looking genius into a blue, furry, and profoundly intellectual character. In the 2006 film X-Men: The Last Stand, Kelsey Grammer offered a memorable portrayal of an older Hank, with Nicholas Hoult providing a fresh take as the younger Hank in subsequent prequels. Claffey’s casting is sure to inject new life into this beloved character.

Marvel Studios hasn’t spared any effort in assembling a stellar cast for the X-Men reboot. Beyond Claffey, the roster is teeming with talent, including Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Scott Summers/Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Inde Navarrette as Anna Marie/Rogue, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Maya Boyd as Ororo Munroe/Storm, Asa Germann as Warren Worthington III/Angel, and Adam Driver as Nathaniel Milbury/Mr. Sinister. Halle Berry, who famously portrayed Storm in the early 2000s, has expressed her faith in Maya Boyd’s portrayal, adding an extra layer of excitement to this casting.

Deadline reports that filming for the MCU’s X-Men reboot will kick off in early 2027, with more casting announcements expected as the project progresses. Jake Schrieir, known for his work on Thunderbolts, will direct the feature. The dynamic duo of Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo will be at the helm for scriptwriting duties. Eager viewers got a sneak peek of the franchise’s new direction in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with Sadie Sink making her debut as Jean Grey, further building anticipation for this monumental release.

With the official release date set for May 5, 2028, Marvel Studios’ X-Men reboot promises to be a thrilling chapter in the MCU. As filmmakers and fans count down the days, the excitement continues to build.
