Coven Academy has returned to enchant audiences once more, with the supernatural teen drama series officially renewed for a second season on Disney+ and Hulu. The news of the renewal, announced on Monday, comes on the heels of remarkably strong viewership statistics from its debut season. In the first three weeks following its Season 1 premiere, the show has amassed an impressive 20.3 million global hours of viewing on Disney+ and Hulu. Furthermore, when the first chapter was released across social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, it garnered an additional 30 million-plus views.
During its premiere weekend, Coven Academy dominated as the number one streaming series among teens aged 12 to 17 and landed in the top five among all viewers aged 2 and up. According to Nielsen data, co-viewing played a significant role, with half of teens aged 12-17, and nearly two-thirds of children aged 6-11, watching alongside an adult.
Season 1 of Coven Academy unravels the intriguing tales of three teenage witches and their charmingly dangerous warlock peers at an elite magic boarding school where power serves as currency, secrets turn deadly, and romantic entanglements become hazardous. Entrapped in a web of ancient supernatural conflicts and forbidden romances, the coven must deliberate the lengths they are willing to go to protect their city—and themselves.
The series features a talented cast, including Malina Pauli Weissman as Briar, Malachi Barton as Jake, Jordan Leftwich as Sasha, Ora Duplass as Tegan, Louis Thresher as Ollie, and Tiffani Thiessen as Miss Graves, with Devon Sawa guest-starring as Mr. Cole. Coven Academy was created by Tim Federle, known for his work on High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and the upcoming Romy and Michele sequel. Serving as executive producers alongside Federle for the first season are Darren Swimmer, Todd Slavkin, Amanda Row, and Bronwyn North-Reist. The series is brought to life by Federle’s Chorus Boy Productions in collaboration with Disney Kids & Family.
Season 1 is currently available for streaming on Freeform On Demand, Disney+, and Hulu.
