Peacock recently announced that its “Friday the 13th” prequel series, “Crystal Lake,” has quickly become a fan favorite, securing its spot as the platform’s fourth-most-watched scripted original series of all time. Debuting on October 15th with all eight action-packed episodes, the show garnered an impressive 1.3 billion minutes watched in just 11 days. When translated to its 398-minute total runtime, this milestone equates to approximately 3.3 million views, a testament to its gripping narrative and dedicated fanbase.

“Crystal Lake” is a prequel that piques interest by diving deep into the lore and dark secrets of the iconic “Friday the 13th” franchise. The series’ astonishing success on Peacock trails only behind the streamer’s other popular shows such as “The Best Man: The Final Chapters,” “All Her Fault,” and “The Five Star Weekend.” Such strong performance in a short span showcases the show’s widespread appeal and quality storytelling.

The viewership numbers, released by Nielsen, reflect the show’s popularity among U.S. audiences. It’s important to note that Peacock is currently available only within the United States, with international viewers accessing the series through other global streaming services. Despite this limitation, “Crystal Lake” climbed the ranks to become the No. 3 streaming original series and the leading first-season series during the week of October 19th.

Beyond impressive viewership figures, the series has also captivated audiences on social media. NBCU reports impressive social engagement numbers, totaling 1.8 billion earned impressions within the first 24 hours of its release, and over 7.6 million video views within 11 days. This high engagement showcases how “Crystal Lake” has sparked conversation and cultivated a vibrant community among fans.

Crafted under the watchful eye of series creator and showrunner Brad Caleb Kane, “Crystal Lake” boasts a talented cast including Linda Cardellini, Callum Vinson, William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins, Gwendolyn Sundstrom, Nick Cordileone, Joy Suprano, Danielle Kotch, and Phoenix Parnevik. The cast brings exceptional performances that breathe life into this suspenseful prequel, adding depth to the narrative and making it a must-watch for horror enthusiasts.
