Three months after making waves at Marvel’s SDCC 2026 panel, Marvel Studios is propelling forward with the Ghost Rider project, bringing excitement to fans by casting Connor Storrie, star of Heated Rivalry. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Storrie is in negotiations to headline this highly-anticipated film alongside Ryan Gosling. While details about Gosling’s official role remain under wraps, speculation is rife that he will embody the iconic Johnny Blaze—a stunt motorcyclist who, after making a perilous deal with the devil, transforms into the fiery anti-hero, Ghost Rider. With his infernal bike, Blaze is a relentless force against criminals and villains.
Storrie, who recently captured hearts as hockey player Ilya Rozanov in the Canadian sports romance show Heated Rivalry, emerges as a fresh face in Marvel’s cinematic universe. Although his specific role in Ghost Rider is not yet confirmed, rumors suggest he might play the film’s antagonist. In the pages of Marvel comics, Ghost Rider has clashed with a host of formidable foes, from the devilish Mephisto to his progeny, Blackheart, and various ancient demons. With Mephisto already part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe portrayed by Sacha Baron Cohen, fans are intrigued to see which villain Storrie could bring to life.
However, a compelling theory from Charles Murphy of Murphy’s Universe suggests a different role for Storrie: Danny Ketch, another incarnation of Ghost Rider. This speculation addresses Marvel’s challenge of weaving two distinct Ghost Rider narratives without revisiting the origin story from the 2007 Nicolas Cage film. Introduced in 1990, Danny Ketch becomes Ghost Rider after a traumatic event involving his sister. Surrounded by chaos, a mystical motorcycle appears, and upon touching it, Ketch is transformed. He is later revealed as the long-lost brother of Johnny Blaze, making the potential casting of Gosling and Storrie as siblings both intriguing and believable.
Guided by the accomplished Shawn Levy, known for his work on Deadpool and Wolverine, and penned by Jonathan Tropper, the creative minds behind Ghost Rider promise a riveting narrative for Marvel fans. As the film gears up to start production in New York next year, anticipation builds for its theatrical release on July 28, 2028.
