The legendary gaming visionary and master of cameos, Hideo Kojima, is set to return to the spotlight by reprising his role as Hideyoshi Oshima in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners season 2. As fans of the Cyberpunk universe may recall, Kojima’s character, Oshima, left a lasting impression during one of Cyberpunk 2077’s earliest and most iconic missions. The braindance director was seen at the opulent Konpeki Plaza as players navigated the tense operation to steal a biochip from the powerful Arasaka Corporation.

The news of Kojima’s return was announced via the official Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Twitter account, highlighting the memorable presence he brought to the game. For fans, this means another thrilling opportunity to see the unique energy that Kojima brings to his roles. CD Projekt Red co-CEO Michal Nowakowski expressed his excitement on social media, noting that it is “always a pleasure to work with Hideo Kojima.”

Kojima’s cameo enthusiasm is no secret; he recently hinted at multiple appearances across various mediums. During a radio appearance on KOJI10, Kojima mentioned receiving numerous requests for cameos, including one for a major anime title. His return to the Cyberpunk series as ‘Oshima’ aligns perfectly with his self-declared preference for stepping into roles other than himself—echoing his desire to portray characters like a detective.

Beyond his acting endeavors, Kojima has a busy schedule ahead. He is currently working on two major projects: the upcoming horror game titled O.D. and Physint, a Metal Gear-inspired spiritual successor. The latter has sparked significant interest since its unexpected move to the Xbox platform after parting ways with PlayStation.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners season 2 promises to deliver an exhilarating continuation of the high-octane anime series and will be available for streaming on Netflix starting October 20. As viewers gear up for another dive into Night City’s gritty allure, excitement is building around how Oshima’s character will further enrich the narrative.
