DC Studios has officially released the highly anticipated trailer for Clayface, the stand-alone film showcasing the enigmatic Batman villain. Starring Tom Rhys Harries as the shapeshifting antagonist, the film promises an eerie new layer to the DC universe. Under the expert direction of James Watkins, audiences are set to be captivated by a story that diverges from the usual superhero norm.

The excitement builds as this release comes just ahead of Comic-Con, where more thrilling content from the movie is expected to be unveiled. Fans mark your calendars for October 23, when Warner Bros will unleash the film in theaters.

Clayface is strategically nestled between DC Studios’ two Batman milestones — Matt Reeves’s The Batman from 2022 and the much-anticipated 2028 follow-up, The Batman Part II. Fans of the gothic superhero universe will be familiar with the dark tones set by these films, both featuring Robert Pattinson’s gripping portrayal of the Caped Crusader.

The plot of Clayface twists traditional DC mythology into a haunting tale. It follows Matt Hagen, played by Harries, a struggling actor whose tragic disfigurement in a hospital and subsequent chemical exposure leads to his monstrous transformation. The film delves deep into themes of identity loss, the consuming nature of revenge, and the moral ambiguity of scientific pursuit.

Naomi Ackie, David Dencik, Max Minghella, and Eddie Marsan bolster the film’s stellar cast. The story comes to life thanks to a script by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini, and creative guidance from producers like Matt Reeves, Lynn Harris, and DC Studios’ leadership duo, James Gunn and Safran.

Primed by previews at CinemaCon, the teaser gave fans an early glimpse at Harries’ portrayal of this iconic villain. Now, with the official trailer out, the anticipation skyrockets for this unique addition to the DC cinematic lineup.
