Gears of War: Reloaded Now on Game Pass Premium – Play Today!

Gears of War: Reloaded, a staple in the transformation of the gaming landscape, is now welcoming new waves of players as it lands on Game Pass Premium today, July 9, 2026. This move marks a significant milestone, as Reloaded becomes accessible to all three non-Essential Game Pass tiers, ensuring it reaches the broadest audience yet. If you’re among the Game Pass Premium subscribers who have been patiently anticipating a journey back to Planet Sera, today marks your opportunity.

The move to Game Pass Premium follows Microsoft’s July 7 announcement on Xbox Wire, part of their aggressive Wave 1 update for 2026. Previously, Gears of War: Reloaded was available exclusively to Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers following its launch on August 26, 2025. Now, with this latest rollout, the content gap is officially bridged.

Gears of War: Reloaded should not be mistaken for a complete remake. Instead, it’s an enhanced version of the 2015 Ultimate Edition. This remaster operates on the sturdy Unreal Engine 3 foundation while incorporating cutting-edge Unreal Engine 5 rendering capabilities. While the core geometry and 3D models are familiar from the Ultimate Edition, the updated visual elements, including real-time screen-space reflections and superior global illumination, push the graphics to richer visual depths. Users will particularly notice enhanced image clarity in nocturnal missions and in intricate environmental lighting. The difference, while not transformative, is a meaningful step up from its predecessor.

Performance-wise, premium users can revel in the campaign running at native 4K and 60 fps on Xbox Series X|S. Competitive gamers can aim even higher with multiplayer running up to 120 fps. Meanwhile, the PC edition draws upon advanced technologies like DLSS 3.5 and FSR 3.1 to augment its visual fidelity and gaming experience with support for ultrawide monitors and a robust benchmark mode. Unfortunately, the campaign split-screen co-op feature does not make it to the PC version, remaining dedicated to Xbox consoles.

The comprehensive content package includes all original game releases: from the bonus campaign Act 5, once exclusive to PC, to additional multiplayer maps and expansive cosmetic options. Notably, the features of cross-play and cross-progression across Xbox, PC, and PlayStation 5 are new to this remaster, heightening multiplayer dynamics.

The timing of Reloaded’s addition to Game Pass Premium cannot be overlooked. After Xbox meticulously revised subscription models due to financial difficulties earlier this year, today’s catalog expansion effort is part of Microsoft’s strategy to restore subscriber trust and generate perceived value across Game Pass tiers. Positioned a mere 89 days before Gears of War: E-Day’s launch, Reloaded’s availability ensures fans are immersed and ready for the prequel narrative unfolding this October.

Accompanying Reloaded today is Tamashika, a fast-paced corridor FPS making strong waves among Game Pass subscribers. This title offers a blend of frenetic action and strategic precision that has resonated well with critics since its April debut, enhancing this July catalog further.

As Microsoft continues to strategize for subscriber recovery with enriched and exclusive Game Pass offerings, staying informed becomes crucial for gaming enthusiasts.
