Atlus Teases Possible Persona 1 and 2 Remakes: What’s Next?

Kazuhisa Wada, a prominent producer at Atlus’ P-Studio, recently stirred excitement among fans during an interview with GamerBraves, hinting at the possibility of Persona 1 and 2 remakes. While he didn’t confirm any current projects focused on these classic titles, Wada made it clear that he considers them essential endeavors. “At this point, I can’t say for sure,” he shared, “but personally, I think it’s something we should definitely do. I think we have to do it.”

This statement resonates with long-time fans of the Persona series who have been eagerly waiting for these older gems to receive the same attention as their successors. Initially launched in the ’90s, Revelations: Persona and Persona 2: Innocent Sin/Eternal Punishment have yet to follow the path of recent remakes. However, Wada’s comments offer a glimmer of hope that we might see them reimagined for modern platforms in the future.

The anticipation for these remakes is not without reason. Atlus has scored major successes with its recent projects. The Persona 3 Reload earned lavish praise for its narrative depth and emotional resonance. IGN, one of the leading voices in gaming reviews, awarded it a score of 9/10, celebrating its compelling story and the impactful changes made to enhance the gameplay experience.

Following this trend, Persona 4 Revival is poised to delight fans once more with its launch scheduled for February 18, 2027. Wada expressed confidence that the game will provide “a fresh and surprising product for both newcomers and long-time fans.” The franchise’s enduring popularity indicates a strong desire for these intricate RPG worlds to be revisited with contemporary flair.

As Atlus turns its gaze towards the future, the upcoming Persona 6 has also piqued interest with its distinct green-themed aesthetic, unveiled to the public this June. Further expanding its creative horizons, a live-action series adaptation of the Persona franchise is reportedly in the pipeline, suggesting a vibrant future for this beloved series.

While Kazuhisa Wada’s comments about the potential for Persona 1 and 2 remakes do not constitute an official announcement, the producer’s enthusiasm suggests that these projects might not be as distant as previously assumed. As Atlus continues to evolve and expand its iconic RPG universe, the hope remains alive for fans eager to see these pioneering entries reborn.
